The look inside a fresh 48
It’s not every day you get to explore this wing of a hospital. Actually the last two years many didn’t get to step foot on this floor due to a global pandemic. This new norm is hard on all of us, but I feel it’s especially hard on labor couple’s or individuals.
When you hear the word labor and delivery what comes to mind? Many things come to my mind, emotions, nerves, the unknown, scared, and having to listen to your body. Your about to do something your body was meant to do! is it going to be easy? HELL NO! but I promise you one thing it will be so worth it when you hear that first cry, when you see those itty bitty eyes searching for the voice that is talking to them.
Last summer I was thankful that my clients Amanda and Andrew took their 2 visitor rule and included myself in that rule. Documenting the realness of the first day your new baby is here is a must! Emotions are extremely high. In your head your asking yourself, now what? How do you juggle healing from birthing, to figuring out your little blessing that is hours old or even a day old. They don’t talk, they have lived 9 months in a warm dark place and here they are placed in this big world and you are thrown all the responsibilities. From trying to figure out what that cry means, to making sure your little one is latching correctly.
I think we can all agree that the unknown is extremely hard. These moments that ou cherish in the hospital become a blur because things happen so fast, I mean come on you grew a baby from scratch for 9 months, you go into labor weather it takes 1 hour, 10 hours or 1 day. It is a very fast process, your admitted, your discharged all within 3-4 days if everything goes smooth. Having a fresh 48 session is a great way to capture those little raw moments, the first diaper change, your significant other gets, the first bath, those snuggles sitting on the hospital bed in the silence, the will fade if you document them.
When your in the hospital the last thing you want to be doing is sitting there thinking, oh we need a photo of this and that because you want to soak up the new life you have in your hands. I am so thankful that Amanda and Andrew allowed me to come in and capture memories that will last a lifetime.
Here are some of my favorites from this Fresh 48 session.
